TIN OXIDE

Description

Fired to 1200C.

This metallic compound is the most effective of all the opacifiers at all temperature levels.  Usually 5 % to 8 % will opacify any glaze completely.  It also acts to stabilize glaze flow.  If amounts above 8 % are used it should be calcined to red heat to prevent crawling of the fired glaze.
